Sri Lanka is the super pro-Japanese country and its development is highly expected in the world. After the conflict ends, Sri Lanka has been developed rapidly in fact. In this country, we want to organize “JAPAN EXPO Premier in Sri Lanka 2017” for a friendship and a cultural exchange between Japan and Sri Lanka, and for disseminating information on Japanese industry, culture, and product to Sri LankaOur objectives:
Japan has attracted attention from the world and referred to the beauty of “Wa” (e.g. Ukiyoe prints) that has been inherited since a long time ago and a technique in “forms” such as “Takumi” technique.
n recent years, the Japanese pop culture such as games, J-POP, fashion, animated cartoons, and comics has attracted attention abroad widely.
However, we think that the “right” information and “right” culture dissemination by the Japanese companies based on the Japanese culture including Japanese tradition and life style as well as Japanese modern pop culture is a big challenge.
We want to make a stage to disseminate the traditional culture that Japan has continued for a long time, craftsman spirits, modern technology, “right” Japanese culture including life culture and high culture, and Japanese next-generation’s “Takumi” technique.
In addition, we want to make a platform for Japanese companies expanding overseas. We are thinking that it is our duty.
From April 1983 to the end of March 1984, a television drama of “Oshin” was broadcasted by Japan Broadcasting Corporation (NHK).
The drama was so popular in Japan at the time because the highest audience rate (62.9%) of the drama has kept the highest one in Japan.
It was broadcasted in 73 countries and regions from 1985 to 2015. Ayako Kobayashi played a young girl, Oshin, enthusiastically in the drama
which has been cherished by people in the countries and all generations regardless of age or gender. A famous and popular actress:
Ayako Kobayashi will visit Sri Lanka for the Japan Expo so the Japan Expo staff has asked her about Sri Lanka, the drama and current activities.
Graceful and Heartwarming,
I’d like to introduce attractive characteristics of Japanese people
to Sri Lanka people through “Oshin”.
Ms. Kobayashi will visit Sri Lank at first time?
Kobayashi:I’ ll visit Sri Lanka at first time, but I have a good
memory of Sri Lanka. An ambassador of Sri Lanka in Japan invited
me to luncheon at Embassy of Sri Lanka in Tokyo a few years ago.
I was happy to hear that the drama of “Oshin” was quite popular in
Sri Lanka at the time.
You have started your actress career since you played a
young girl, Oshin. What is Oshin to you?
Ms. KobayashiOshin is patience, facing difficulties, and getting over
the difficulties. I learnt what is energy to live as I played Oshin. And
there were many opportunities to meet people through playing in
the drama. Also, I’m so happy to take part in the Japan Expo and
meet people at overseas. Oshin is in the basement of my life and
one of my important treasures.
